Opportunities?

I have decided not to be passive in my quest to get my art seen.

Despite being super busy this week after being out for a week with my fantastic pinched nerve...(fun, fun, fun...), and then Monday's AWESOME 3 inch needle into the spine which FINALLY gave relief....(w00t!); I hopped back into the dirver's seat, engine roaring.

I'm ready to have some freaking recognition.

Soooooo my duckies, I have scoured craigslist (has it REALLY come to this?) and followed a few other word of mouth leads---and we shall see where it all goes.

Cross you fingers, send up a prayer, make a wish, and I'll let you know if I have a piece in the Louvre next week. (I'm always realistic.)

Junk.

Upon going to a local junkshop on U street in DC, I found that there is such a thing as too much junk. I found myself looking through piles of unwanted items, covered in dust, mildew, and drenched in old moldy water...I pondered how much of my own stuff would someday be just junk to people.
What of my "treasures" would someday be just trash to future onlookers.
Would my hard-earned finds be creepy and unusual, thrown into a pile, lost somewhere uncared for that it wouldn't matter except to the person who left them behind.
And perhaps they don't matter.
Perhaps all that matters is the person who leaves.
The legacy. The junk is just simply that. Ephemera--meant to be collected then tossed aside. The essence of a being here, but not the soul of a person.
The soul is not left behind and discarded.
We're not the junk.
I think that was why I got so heebed out. I feel like peoples souls are in there stuff...and maybe for people who don't believe in anything--who put their faith in the things here--their stuff is the soul they leave behind---but for me...my soul will be going with me when I go---my junk will be a mere shadow of what I was--and the real person will live on.

With all of my work insanity and the monotony I feel--it is reassuring to see street art in its many forms and iterations--it shows me that subversity and creativity exist. There is still nonconformity and beauty in life beyond a four-wall 9-5 existance, and that money and power do not necessarily make something better.

Man Man

Saw Man Man Last Night.
It was Awesome, and awe inspiring. Those guys know how to play some music. There was dancing, singing, screaming, and much rocking. I haven't seen this much greatness since The Great Frank Zappa rocked out with the Mothers of Invention--complete with sparkly top and well-composed lyrics. The creative use of everyday objects as instruments as well as noisemakers, props and just wailing on the sax and trumpet, all make Man Man a band I can't stop dancing like a baboon to, Just try and stop flailing as you listen.
